This policy explains what data Camino (“we”) collects, why, and what your rights are. For any question, email us at hello@camino-walk.com.

1. Data controller

The Camino app and website (camino-walk.com) are operated by the publisher of Camino. Contact: hello@camino-walk.com.

2. Data we collect

  • Account: your email address and the profile information you provide (display name), managed via our authentication provider.
  • Activity / health data: your step count, read from Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS or Health Connect on Android, only with your explicit permission. We use it to compute your distance, your contribution to the collective trip around the world, and your XP.
  • Usage data: minimal technical information required to operate and secure the service.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Provide the service (performance of a contract): account, progress, leaderboard.
  • Process your step data (your consent) — revocable at any time in your phone's settings.
  • Send you account-related emails (confirmation, security).

4. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We rely on technical processors, solely to run the service:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication.
  • Resend — sending transactional emails.
  • Mapbox — map rendering.
  • Apple Health / Health Connect — source of your step data, on your device, according to your permissions.

5. Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is erased or anonymised within a reasonable period, unless a legal retention obligation applies.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, and port your data. To exercise them, email hello@camino-walk.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from the app or by contacting us.

8. Cookies on this site

This marketing site does not use advertising tracking cookies. Only strictly necessary technical means may be used.

9. Children

Camino is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The last updated date is shown at the top of the page.
